President Doug Baum called the meeting to order at

1st Public Speaks Session
Wendy Bullock from the Joint Waste District gave a
presentation on recycling and what you can and can’t recycle in our Township.
Tim Vandersol from Countywide Landfill gave an
update on the landfill. He introduced
Jeff Kraus who is the new marketing manager.
He stated that ever since the Federal EPA has gotten involved, things
are starting to really go well and they are working together to solve all of
the problems. The landfill has put in
some monitors to monitor the fire that is in the old cell to make sure it
doesn’t move. They want to cap the
landfill, and the Federal EPA said that they could cap the old cell to keep water
out of it as well as oxygen which will help with the fire. He said the US EPA
has been refreshing to work with versus the Ohio EPA. They have gotten a lot accomplished since the
US EPA has gotten involved. Republic has
spent about 45 million and put another 45 million aside for future issues with
the old cell.
Strad asked about the on and off ramp. Vandersol stated that there is an appeal in

There was a
long discussion on why we don’t have more volunteer firemen, as well as why we
don’t have paid firemen. The Trustees as
well as Dave Collier explained about not being able to get volunteers, as well
as the expense to hire firemen.

Strad said
Baum discussed the potential of Mr. Woods mining by
the Bank of Magnolia. There are some
legal questions that will need answered. Baum asked our attorney about it, and
if the landowner would start selling it, he thinks it is considered mining.
Baum would like an opinion from the Prosecutors
office on whether something less than 1 acre, can be mined if not sold. The Trustees agreed to get an opinion from
the office.
Deputy Evanoff read the police report.
Went on 13 different calls, with 11 reports and took
two criminals to jail.

They are going to try and
finish chipping and sealing tomorrow.
There are dead trees on
Briggle on the west side that he thinks should be removed but it will take a
bucket truck. Baum will get an answer to
whether we should take it down.

Mosquito machine is on its
last leg, and a replacement will be $10,000.
A motion was made by Strad to purchase a new mosquito machine. Seconded by Charnetzky.
