Reorganization Meeting

 

Carol Barto, substituting for Fiscal Officer Steve Knox called the meeting to order at 6:30.  Trustees Doug Baum, Lee Strad and Don Charnetzky were present.  Others in attendance were Carol Barto, David Ross, Nancy Collier, Wayne Wood, Attorney Charlie Hall, Mark Pahanish, and Sharon Perrine.

 

A motion was made by Strad to have Baum serve as President of the Board for 2008.  Seconded by Charnetzky. 

 

A motion was made by Charnetzky to have Strad serve as Vice President of the Board.  Seconded by Baum.

 

Barto then turned it over to Board of Trustees President Doug Baum to run the meeting.

 

A motion was made by Strad to hold the regular meetings on the first and third Monday of every month, except when a holiday falls on that Monday, thus placing the meeting on that Tuesday.  Seconded by Charnetzky.

 

Keep Carol Barto as Cemetery Sexton with a $0.50 cent increase to $12.75.

Keep Mark Pahanish as Road Supervisor.

Keep Richard Mahoney as a part time employee and raise his rate from $10.50 to $11.00 per hour.

Keep Sharon Perrine as Zoning Inspector at $1,550 per month.

Reappoint Arnie Adams as the Fire Prevention and Safety officer at $350.

Reappoint Doug Neading is Assistant Fire Safety and Prevention Officer.

Appoint Don Charnetzky as the Representative to the Health Advisory Board.

Reappoint Lee Strad as the Boards representative on S.C.O.G.

 

Mileage Reimbursement was increased to $0.50 per mile.

 

Space Resident: $400 and $300 for all other cemeteries in the Township.

Space Nonresident: $800 for Melscheimers and $750 for all other cemeteries in the Township.

 

Interment Resident and Nonresident: $600

Cremations/Interment of Infants: $325

 

Additional Charges for: Saturday, Sunday & Holidays $200

Late arrival at cemetery $50 per half our

Deed Fee: $5.00

Disinterment: $1200

Concrete-per surface square inch, 30” deep

            Regular pouring .70 per inch minimum $155

            Special Pouring $1.00 per inch minimum $220

 

Sand - Flush markers(Hilltop only) $150

 

$100 dollars for road boring permits with no open cuts.

 

A motion was made by Strad to accept all of the above items up to this point.  Seconded by Charnetzky.

 

The Board discussed various items with attorney Charlie Hall including the possible CEDA with East Sparta Village dealing with the Ceramic Tile plant.

 

Also discussed if a Zoning Commission or BZA member can be removed from appointment.  Hall said yes, but with just cause only not because you don’t like how they vote on issues.

 

Dave Collier asked for the Township to pay to get the wiring for the automatic kick box for the generator at the Fire House. 

 

Discussed the change that vendors need to sign the “pay to play policy” if they do more than $10,000 worth of business.

 

A motion was made by Strad to go into executive session for personnel.  Seconded by Charnetzky.

A motion was made by Strad to adjourn executive session.  Seconded by Charnetzky.

 

A motion was made by Strad to purchase a new computer for the cemetery sexton.  Seconded by Charnetzky.

 

A motion was made by Strad to discuss pending litigation with attorney Charlie Hall.

Seconded by Baum.

A motion was made by Strad to adjourn executive session.  Seconded by Charnetzky.

 

A motion was made by Strad to have a special meeting with the Road Crew and Trustees on February 1st, 2008 at 7:00 a.m. a the Township garage.  Seconded by Charnetzky.

 

A motion was made by Strad to pay for expenses for the Winter Conference.  Seconded by Charnetzky.

 

A motion was made by Strad to pay expenses to all Township employees who attend the Government Seminar on February 23rd, 2008.  Seconded by Charnetzky.

 

A motion was made by Strad to pay for the annual Regional Planning Dinner of all Township employees who attends.  Seconded by Charnetzky.
