PIKE TOWNSHIP ZONING COMMISSION

January 8, 2007 - 7:00 p.m.

7134 East Sparta Ave. S.E., East Sparta, OH

 

Members present were Glen Johnstone, Ramon Halter, Linda Zaleski and the newest board member, David Ross.  Also present was Zoning Inspector, Sharon Perrine, Trustee, Doug Baum and Zoning Secretary, Carol Barto.

 

RE-ORGANIZATION MEETING

 

Linda Zaleski opened the meeting at 7:00 p.m. requesting an election be held for officers for 2007.  Mrs. Zaleski volunteered to be Chairperson.  No other nominations were presented.  Ramon Halter made a motion to accept Mrs. Zaleski’s nomination.  Seconded by Glen Johnstone.  The vote was unanimous to accept the nomination.  Roll call vote was unanimous to elect Mrs. Zaleski as Chairperson for 2007.   Ramon Halter made a motion to nominate Glen Johnstone as Vice-chairman.  Seconded by Linda Zaleski.  The vote was unanimous to accept the nomination.  Roll call vote was unanimous to elect Glen Johnstone as Vice-chairman.

 

NEW BUSINESS

 

Trustee, Doug Baum introduced David Ross to the other members of the Board and stated he was instrumental in obtaining the recycle bins for the Dueber Avenue fire station. 

 

Mr. Baum stated the trustees had voted at their January 2nd re-organizational meeting to accept the zoning fees, as presented, with the following exceptions:

 

Recreational Facility fee.  The Board discussed requesting a 2-tiered fee should be implemented and they recommended to the Trustees that non-profit (certified) not be charged and for-profit be charged the $100.00 annually.

 

Sexually oriented land use fee.   Mr. Baum said the Trustees had discussed, and attorney, Charles Hall agreed that $2,500 would be an appropriate fee.  Glen Johnstone made a motion to request the $2,500 fee.  Seconded by Ramon Halter.  Vote was unanimous in favor of the fee.

 

RESIDENTIAL USES

 

            New Buildings & Structures (change wording as follows: 

 

                        Up to 80 sq. ft. (no certificate required)                                $0

                        81 - 1,250 sq. ft.                                                                      $50.00

 

                                    Plus $0.04 per square foot of outside dimensions of the

                                    structure of each floor over 1,250 sq. ft.

 

            Additions & Alterations (change wording as follows):

 

                                                                                    0 - 400 sq. ft.               $25.00

           

                                    Plus $0.04 per square foot of outside dimensions of the

                                    structure of each floor over 1,250 sq. ft.

 

Ramon Halter made a motion to request the language changes.  Seconded by Glen Johnstone.  Roll call vote was unanimous to request the above change to the Pike Township Trustees.

 

The Board discussed having a quarterly meeting.  In the past they only met when there was a need.  They set a date of January 31, 2007 to have a work session with Attorney, Charlie Hall to review and consider more stringent regulations on landfills.

 

Ramon Halter made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:55 p.m.  Seconded by Glen Johnstone.
