PIKE TOWNSHIP TRUSTEES

July 2, 2007 - 6:30 p.m.

7134 East Sparta Ave. S.E., E. Sparta, Ohio

Members present were Bob Anstine, Lee Strad and Doub Baum, presiding. Also present were Zoning Commission members, Linda Zaleski, Glen Johnstone & Ramon Halter, as well as Zoning Inspector, Sharon Perrine and Zoning Recording Secretary, Carol Barto.

Doug Baum opened the meeting at 6:30 p.m. stating the purpose of the public meeting was to adopt, deny or amend the text changes to the Zoning Resolution that were presented to the Board at the June 18, 2007 trustees meeting by the Zoning Commission.

Linda Zaleski, president of the Zoning Commission briefly explained the changes (full version of changes attached hereto as Resolution #08-2007) as increasing the acreage and the distance to a two mile radius of an existing landfill.

Glen Johnstone questioned if the these regulations would still apply to the property if the U.S. Ceramic Tile Company annexed into the Village of East Sparta, which they have requested to do. It was established that the Village had their own zoning regulations and it would only affect areas of Pike Township.

Lee Strad made a motion to accept the changes as recommended by the Zoning Commission and Stark County Regional Planning Commission.

VOTE: Robert Anstine yes

Lee Strad yes

Douglas Baum yes

Vote was unanimous to accept the text changes as presented to them. - Resolution #08-2007

Linda Zaleski also asked the Trustees to rule on the Zone Change the Commission had withdrawn, to have the RPC conduct a land use study for the I-2 area to R-1. She noted that Regional Planning had recommended approval of the zone change, with the suggestion that a land use study be done on the area by the RPC. Ms. Zaleski stated that the Trustees needed to adopt, deny or amend the Zoning Commission’s withdrawal.

Lee Strad made a motion to deny changing the zoning from I-2 (Industrial) to R-1 (Residential), for the property bordered on the north by Ullet Street, on the east by Ridge Avenue, on the south by the Township line and on the west by Dueber Avenue.

OPEN DISCUSSION

Lee Strad made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 6:50 p.m. Seconded by Bob Anstine.
