A motion was made by Anstine accepting the minutes and financials as presented. Seconded by Strad.
1st Public Speaks Session
David Johnson stated that he was told by his
attorney to petition the Township to have the fence he is putting up deemed a
partition fence. He has no intent to
make any of the neighbors take care of it or pay, but he thinks that he is
going to have an issue with one of his neighbors and just wanted to make sure
he has everything taken care of before he puts it in. For the last 20 years, it has been an ongoing
issue with his neighbor, but he just wants this to go smoothly. There are some trees in the way, and he knows
that it will probably be a problem.
Again, he has no intent to ask the neighbors to pay for 50% of the cost. The Trustees stated that they don’t think
they can help in this matter but told him to have his attorney talk to our
attorney about the issue.
Wayne Wood stated that the Village passed a motion
to vote down the CEDA agreement because it would be a detriment for future
annexation. Baum said if that is true,
then they have reneged on the meeting that we had in February. We cut the money from $5,000 to $2,500 in the
agreement but other than that, they are not sure why they would have not agreed
to the CEDA. Wood is looking for
continued help and support from the Township and is wondering what we can
do. Baum stated that you can see that
cooperation between the Township and the Village is obviously a thing of the
past and that is unfortunate.
Strad went to a recent meeting about the fire levy
and he was asked why we, the Township, were down at their meeting worried about
their business. Strad responded by stating
that the Fire Department is all of our interests and that Pike Township
Residents are paying more for fire coverage than the people in the other two
entities and this is unfair to all residents involved.

Arnie Adams had asked them not to put their personal
decisions into whether the voters should have an opportunity to pass a two mil
levy. Most of the people in the Village
said they would have voted for the levy if presented, yet the Village Board has
chosen not to put it on for the voters to decide.
Strad is going to ask that the three entities meet
and discuss the future of the Fire Department.
Wood stated that it is possible to unincorporate the
Village and he wants the Board to help if possible. Strad stated that one of the Board members
will help as a resident, but am not sure the Board can help with this cause. Wood went on to say that 51% of the votes
would be needed by the Village residents to put it back into the Township. Wood added that he is not sure they are even going
to be able to be liquid since they are losing businesses and money to support
the water board.
David Ross thanked the 226 voters that voted for him
and for allowing him to put his signs up.
He did call the County and thanked them for fixing all of the haul
roads.
He also talked to City Councilman, and the lead was
all cleaned up where the park will go in.
They will spend the money to make sure the park was taken care of.
Strad made a motion to have the annual
reorganizational meeting on Thursday, January 3rd at 6:00 P.M.
Seconded by Baum.
Strad received a quote from Staley Technology. Anstine said that we may want to check into
the record retention of the videos before we move forward.
Baum said that the annexation vote was Bosely against,
and Harmon and Vignos voted for the Tile plant annexation.
Someone asked if we were going to appeal and the
answer was no.
