Pike Township Trustees Regular
Tuesday, January 18th 05
Regular Meeting
President Lee Strad called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. Trustees Bob Anstine and Doug Baum were present, as well as Clerk Steve Knox. Others in attendance were Louis Grooms, Mark Pahanish, Nancy Cramer, Jerry Eibel, Nancy Snyder, and Sharron Perrine.
A motion was made by Baum to accept the minutes and financial report as presented. Second by Anstine.
1st Public Speaks Session
Mr. Grooms asked when the speed limit signs will go up. Pahanish said he would call the engineers office to find out when they may be doing this.
He also stated that there is water running across the street at the Becker property, which in turn freezes when the temperature drops.
The Dept of Transportation asked to have a meeting this Friday in Akron with all of the principal parties involved in the Landfill agreement to discuss the process and legality.
There have been a lot of complaints as to why the Landfill smells so bad. Strad stated that the Landfill doesn’t seem to know why it is so bad right now. The Health Department is also concerned about the odor.
The Trustees agreed to send a letter to the landfill about the odor complaints.
New Business
The Trustees agreed to offer the services of the Road Crew to any of the surrounding Townships in need due to the flooding that occurred.
Financial Report
Knox reported what was going on financially.
W2’s are complete.
Taxes are all filed.
1099’s need done, may need help getting social security numbers.
Knox also stated that after negotiations, he cut out approximately $1,500 dollars from the original cemetery software quote.
Knox stated that he would check to see if either company would come down on their quotes for the phone system.

A motion was made by Anstine to give the capability for the Clerk to cut Blanket Certificates for a one year time period in the amount not exceeding $25,000. Seconded by Baum. Strad agreed.
Resolution# 02-2005 was entered into for the above motion.

Zoning
Sharon Perrine went over the current zoning issues in the Township.
She would like to get a copy of a letter that will be sent to the landfill.
There is also a pre-hearing about a mobile home on a piece a property in the Township.
Road Report
Pahanish read the road report.
Pahanish will go down to a meeting at the jail concerning stark county disasters at 8:00 a.m.
Cleaned some ditches on Breezehill.
The signs will be left up for high water.
Need to get pickups touched up. One is a 1988 with 55,000 miles. It has a couple of holes in it, which he would like to fix. The Trustees agreed to fix both trucks.
Inventory has been completed and sent to the engineers.
Strad received a thank you letter about a vehicle that was stranded I the high water, and stated that the crew went and helped her get it out.
The electrician stated that he put two lights up, and will also wire the office.
Mrs. Riggs on Hillwood, would like a dead end sign as well as a no turn around sign put up
Anstine asked about a street sign on East Sparta Ave. as well as on Elson. Pahanish said they are on order.
