1st Public Speaks Session

Gary from Buckeye Mining, stated that ODNR(Ohio Department of Natural Resources) requires all mining to be done over 100 feet from a road. He went on to state that the Township already approved Buckeye Mining to mine closer than 100 feet from the road. They are now moving across the street on the same property, but ODNR wants to make sure that the original agreement is still okay with the Township. The Trustees would need to draft a letter that the original agreement is still okay allowing them to mine within 100 feet of the road.

Louis Grooms stated the there is a BZA meeting on August 16th.

Violet Grooms said that there is an issue with some grating on Maplehurst where the new paving was done. The Trustees agreed and said that they will have that built up so no one ends up hitting it.

Nancy Collier said that the ESVFD are going to rent space on an already existing tower. She recommends that a representative from the Pike Township Board, come to one of their meeting at the Fire Department.

Joe Barnes asked about the mowing of county roads by Township employees. The Trustees stated that they will look at maybe pulling them back some.

Richard Mahoney asked if it was alright for the Pike Junior flag group to present the flag and lead in the pledge of allegiance at the next meeting. The Trustees agreed that this would be good.

James Davis asked about how long a conditional use permit lasts. The Trustees said that it lasts one year and then needs renewed.
