Regular Meeting

President Lee Strad called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. Trustees Bob Anstine and Doug Baum were present, as well as Clerk Steve Knox. Others in attendance were Road Supervisor Mark Pahanish, Louis & Violet Grooms, Nancy Brunoni, Nancy Cramer, Dave Collier,

A motion was made by Anstine to accept the financial report as presented. Seconded by Baum.

1st Public Speaks Session

There will be a ceremony this Sunday at 10:00 at Melscheimer for Memorial Day.

Buckeye Mining would like to present a Zoning Permit for a new site proposal. East of Bowmont.

Joe Barnes stated that some of the tombstones at the cemetery need fixed.

Strad said that they would have the two gentlemen that was fixing

May 25th, 2005 there will be a BZA work session.

 

New Business

The Trustees opened up bids for paving of Maplehurst, Pleasant Lake, and Farber slurry.

Maplehurst bids: JD Mining – 756 tons at 30.00 – 22,680

Northstar – $28.50 per ton

Central Allied - $30.95 per ton

Hysong Paving - $38.00 per ton

Superior Paving – 32.85 per ton

Pleasant Lake Allotment: JD Mining $30.00 per ton

North star $27.50 per ton

Central Allied $31.40

Hysong $38.00

Superior - $32.85

Farber Slurry – American Paving 1.30 sq/yd

Central Allied 2.95 sq/yd

Pahanish stated that Northstar has done work in the past which includes the paving of Haut and have also done Deerwood Circle and Ann Jean.

Anstine made a motion to accept Maplehurst and Pleasant Lake bids from Northstar. Second by Baum.

Anstine – Yes

Baum - Yes

Pahanish said that he would recommend not slurrying Farber, but chip and seal Farber. Estimated cost is $8,000 to $10,000.

The Trustees agreed to chip and sealing Farber instead of slurrying.

A motion was made to not accept any of the bids to slurry. Seconded by Anstine.

Financial Report

A resolution was entered into to move $20441.81 from 01-L-02 Materials to 01-K-04 New Equipment.

A resolution was entered into to accept the Bank of Magnolia for financing the new truck.

A motion was made to go up to $200.00 for flowers and mulch.

A Resolution/motion was made to accept .10 a copy

Strad stated that the Fire Department needs to have plumbing fixed, and the leaky roof. Part of the roof was fixed, but now another part needs fixed.

He went on to discuss the letter sent Kirk Schuring about receiving an increase of $.25 per ton of tipping fees. He stated that he put an amendment in to the budget for the proposal.

Saturday May 21st is the clean up day. They will be limiting tires to 4 a resident.

No businesses are allowed, just residential.

Also, they got a copy of the waste district five year plan, and the Board approved it. Now the Waste District has taken the money out.

A motion was made to reject the proposal from the Waste District budget. Roll Call: Yes, Yes, Yes.

A motion was made to go into executive session for personel. Second by Baum.

A motion was made by Anstine to adjourn executive session. Seconded by Baum.

A motion was made by Baum to accept the tentative contract for the operating engineers. Second by Anstine.

Strad stated that the police have been policing the Township. The car was of interest to the Stark County Police. A scuffle occurred, the gentleman got away and they searched for 4 hours. They took him to jail, and his specialty was burglary. They think he was casing houses.

A motion was made to pay $200 to the American Legion. Second by Baum.

A motion was made by Baum to have a special meeting on June 13th at 7:30 p.m. Seconded by Anstine.

New International chaisse is in for the new truck.

Weed killing guardrails.

Widening Maplehurst.

There have been problems with the Gradall on an ongoing basis and now it is out of warranty. They just fixed the heater, and now the air conditioner is not working. The Trustees would like to hold the bill until we can contact Gradall.

The Trustees agreed to purchase a used 1999 Ford Ranger from Lambert’s for $6,390.50.

Anstine asked about East Sparta Ave by Mr. Mays house, the ditch needs fixed.

Also, Mapleurst has a few holes.
