Regular Meeting

 

President Lee Strad called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.  Trustees Doug Baum and Bob Anstine were present as well as Clerk Steve Knox.  Others in attendance were Louis & Violet Grooms, Tim Vandersol, Nancy Cramer, David Ross, Joe Barnes, John Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Collins, and Nancy Collier.

 

A motion was made by Anstine to accept the minutes and financial report as presented.  Seconded by Baum.

New Business

 

Baum was trying to get his junk mail decreased and found a number you can call that takes care of it.  The number is 1- 888-5-optout.  You have to give your social security number but his junk mail has stopped.

 

Nancy Edwards asked about the Welcome to Pike Township signs, and whether they can be put on Rt 800.  The Trustees said that we can’t them on county roads, but would like to put the regular signs up on the road.

 

The leaf cleanup ends on the 19th of November.  The roll-off will gone at that point.

 

 

Old Business

 

Tim Vandersol was asked to come and discuss why there are people going door to door asking for support to get money.  He stated that they are trying to get support from the public to get the money that the Joint Solid Waste District originally earmarked for the on and off ramp and then took it off the table.  The point is to make the Solid Waste District hold up to there part of there original deal where they said they would put up 3 million dollars.

Strad stated that he heard there will be a flag raising event along the west berm of Countywide.  Vandersol said that they are looking to do that around the 21st of this month.  They want some speakers along with some veterans and would also like a representative from Pike Township.

 

Strad went on to state that the Trustees did pass a resolution asking the Solid Waste District to revisit the 3 million dollars toward the ramp.  They need a formal letter stating who all the parties are involved, and who will be speaking at the meeting.  The Trustees want Strad to go on the Boards behalf to the January meeting.

 

Strad also said that a garbage truck passed him on Dueber Avenue in a no passing zone.  He followed the truck into Countywide and reported the truck to them. Countywide contacted the company who then reprimanded the trucks driver.

 

Vandersol also stated that they are still in cell 7.  They are excavating cell 8a which is about 10 acres, but they won’t really start with that cell until next summer. 

 

 

Financial Report

 

Knox stated that we need a server at the Township and a new printer for the new GIS mapping system.  The cost for both will be around $12,000.

 

A motion was made by Anstine to implement a new server and purchase a new printer for the Township.  Seconded by Baum.

 

Roll Call Vote:  Strad, Baum, Anstine all yes.

 

A motion was made by Baum to approve the Stark County Township Association dues. 

Baum seconded.

Zoning Report

 

There is a joint meeting at 7:00 p.m. with the zoning appeals, and the zoning commission.  There is also a special meeting with the ESVFD November 15th at 6:00 at the Fire House.

 

Perrine said the web site is up and running.  The site is www.piketownship.com.  There is a link about sex offenders in the Township on the web site as well. 

Money came in from the Daulinger case, so that is done.

Hall is still working on some of the open issues.

She went on to state that she will continue making rounds and letters about vehicles.

Strad asked if we have heard anything about the Miller appeal.  She said they may hear something this week about the appeal.

 

Road Report

 

Pahanish read the road report.

Salt spreaders were painted.

Planted and strawed Howenstine

Mowing roads back as far as they can.

Pahanish stated that the Ranger truck needs repaired.  The Trustees agreed to have the truck repaired as needed.

Mosberger wants to take off Nov. 9th ,10th , 15th , and December 2nd.

Knepper wants the 28th through the 30th.  The Trustees approved all of them.

Christmas and New Years is on a Sunday so they will celebrate it on the Monday following.

Nov 22nd  ,Pahainsh needs to go to Akron for a class for his Ohio Department of Agriculture certification.

The motion was made by Anstine to send him to the conference.  Seconded by Baum.  Strad agreed.

 

Strad stated that there was an employee that didn’t take a lunch, and didn’t use sick time when they went to the Doctor.  When he was reminded by Pahanish the correction was made.  Anstine stated that he will talk with the employee.
