A master development plan for the 327 acre Fry Family Park is available for online viewing. The park will honor the memory of the Stark County Park District’s first director, Richard Fry, and his family. A rolling mixture of grasslands, hardwood forests, a pond, wetlands and stream, the land is home to songbirds, game birds, raptors and small mammals.

PIKE TOWNSHIP HISTORICAL SOCIETY
The Society is a volunteer organization working with other community groups. It was formed in 1999 with the intention of recording oral histories of our citizens, gathering family genealogy records and collecting items, articles and pictures relating to the history of Pike township and the Villages of East Sparta and Sandyville.
Yearly Dues are: Student $5, Individuals, $10, family of 2 $15, Business $20 and Patron $35 and are due by January 1st. The meetings are held the 1st Tuesday of each month at the community building.
If you are interested in joining the Society, make check or money order payable to Pike Township Historical Society and mail to: P.O. Box 116, East Sparta, OH 44626 or call Kay Weisen at 330-866-2761. Include your name and mailing address on your application.
The Melscheimer School property was donated by Raymond Creager in memory of his mother, Betty (Sheatzley) Creager to Pike Township to be part of the Melscheimer Cemetery property. A committee, headed by Nancy Snyder, has been formed to restore the school, as close to the original building as possible.
